Laptop Screen Replacement

Cracked the screen on your laptop, or watching lines creep across the panel? A dropped MacBook, a Dell touchscreen that will not light up, an ASUS with a shattered corner. I replace laptop screens for every major brand right here in Stretton, and for most common models I can have it done the same day. Genuine or high-grade OEM panels, fitted properly, with no call-out fee anywhere on Stretton or Brisbane's southside.

Why get your screen replaced with me

  • Parts matched to your exact laptop. Genuine LCD, LED and IPS panels for Apple, HP, Lenovo, Dell, ASUS, Acer and Microsoft Surface, sourced to the model number so the fit and the picture are right.
  • Same day on common models. If I have your panel in stock, most 13 and 15 inch Full HD screens are swapped within about two hours. Rarer models I order in first, and I will tell you the wait up front.
  • One price, no surprises. The quote covers the part, the labour, and pickup and return. No call-out add-on, and nothing extra sprung on you afterwards.
  • 12 month warranty on the part. If the new panel develops dead pixels or a defect, I replace it free.
  • Clean, careful install. Screens go in on an anti-static bench, and I check and service the hinges while the laptop is open, since a stiff hinge is often what cracked the screen in the first place.
  • Colour work if you need it. For designers and photo or video editors, I can calibrate the new panel to 100% sRGB, so the colours you see are the colours you get.

The screen faults I see most

If your laptop is doing any of these, a screen replacement usually sorts it:

  • Cracks and shattered glass from a drop, a knock, or pressure on a closed lid.
  • Vertical or horizontal lines through the picture, normally a failing panel or a loose ribbon cable.
  • A dim screen or no backlight, where the image is faintly there under a torch. That is usually a burnt-out LED strip or inverter.
  • Flicker or inverted colours, a sign of an ageing backlight or a failing T-Con board.

Which laptops I can do

I can source panels for around 95% of the laptops sold in Australia, including older machines and the niche gaming brands. That covers Apple MacBook, Lenovo ThinkPad, IdeaPad and Legion, Dell XPS, Inspiron and Latitude, HP Pavilion, Envy, Spectre and EliteBook, ASUS ZenBook, VivoBook and ROG, Acer Swift, Aspire and Nitro, Microsoft Surface, Razer Blade, Samsung, LG and MSI. Send me the model number with your quote and I will confirm price and availability within the hour. Not sure where to find it? It is on the sticker underneath, and I can help you read it. If the whole machine needs a look rather than just the screen, see my laptop repairs and Mac repairs pages.

What it costs

Most 14 and 15 inch IPS panels, the Acer Swift, ASUS VivoBook, Lenovo IdeaPad and the like, come in between $195 and $265 all inclusive. That price is the part, the labour, and pickup and return, with the 12 month warranty built in. A MacBook Pro Retina screen is a single sealed assembly rather than just glass, so genuine Apple parts run $599 to $799 depending on the size. If you want to upgrade while the laptop is open, an OLED panel on supported models is about $140 more, and an anti-glare overlay is $25.

Common questions

How much is a typical cracked screen? For most 1920 by 1080 IPS panels, $195 to $265 all in. That is the part, labour, pickup and return, and a 12 month warranty.

Can you do it the same day? If your panel is in stock, often within a couple of hours. Less common models I need to order first, and I will give you the timeframe before you commit.

Do you replace the whole MacBook screen or just the glass? On current Retina models the glass and panel are one part, so I fit the full genuine Apple assembly. That is the $599 to $799 range depending on size.

The screen is black but the backlight still glows. Can you fix it? Yes. A picture that has gone but a backlight that still lights up is nearly always a failed panel or T-Con board, and a new screen brings the image back.

My laptop is a 2-in-1 with a touchscreen. Is the touch layer included? Yes. On convertibles like the Surface Laptop and HP Spectre the digitiser and screen come as one part, and the replacement keeps the touch working.

Cracked, dim, lined or dead, I can get your laptop looking right again. Send me the details for a quote or call 0477 319 160, and there is no call-out fee anywhere on Stretton.
