Wi-fi drops out, slows down and never quite reaches the far end of the house. A hard-wired cable does not. I run neat, licensed Ethernet cabling through homes and businesses around Stretton and Brisbane, and I can get a solid connection out to the shed, granny flat or pool house while I am at it.
The fastest fix for slow, patchy internet is a cable
Wi-fi is handy, but it is always fighting distance, walls and interference. The moment you are gaming, working from home or streaming 4K, a wired connection wins. It is faster, it does not drop, and it does not slow down when the whole house is online at once. A run of cable also makes your mesh wi-fi far better, because the nodes talk to each other over the cable instead of stealing wireless bandwidth to do it.
Done properly and to standard
Cabling has to be done by a licensed cabler to be legal and safe, and I run it that way, Cat6 or Cat6a, tidy and concealed where I can, terminated and tested rather than left as a mess of loose leads. Whether it is a single point behind the TV, a handful of rooms wired back to a comms point, or a full small-office setup with a rack, it is built to last.
