Cloud Backup & Storage Solutions

Lost in a sea of cloud backup plans? I help you pick the right provider, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Backblaze or iDrive, and set it up so your files are safe and easy to get to. No paying for storage you will never use, and no guessing. Prefer to keep it off the cloud altogether? I set up local backups too. I cover Stretton and Brisbane's southside, onsite or remote.

Cloud storage is not a backup until it is set up properly

Sync rules, file exclusions and retention settings trip a lot of people up, and I have seen plenty of folks locked out of their own online accounts with no way back in. That is where I come in. I do the fiddly part for you, and I check your account security and two-factor login at the same time, so you do not end up shut out of your own files.

Real comparisons, not guesswork

I lay out the features, costs and storage limits of the main providers, steer you away from the overpriced plans, and then install, configure and encrypt the whole thing. Before I leave, I show you how to restore a file yourself and how to check the backup is actually running, so you are never in the dark about whether your data is safe.

Why cloud storage is worth it

  • Get to your files anywhere, from any device, without being sat at one particular computer.
  • Encrypted, the reputable providers use AES-256 to protect your data in transit and at rest.
  • Version history, roll back to an older copy or bring back a file you deleted by mistake.
  • Grows with you, start small and add storage as you need it, no new hardware to buy.
  • Survives a disaster, your files are safe from theft, fire, flood or ransomware hitting the machine at home.
  • Works alongside local storage, pair it with a NAS or an external drive for a belt-and-braces setup.

The trade-offs, straight up

Cloud is not perfect, and I would rather you knew both sides before you decide. It leans on your internet connection, so a slow or flaky line makes uploads and restores a chore. Recovering a lot of data at once can take hours compared with plugging in a local drive. And there is an ongoing subscription to factor in. For most people a hybrid setup, cloud plus a local copy, gives the best of both. If you would rather keep everything in-house, see my data backup and transfer service, and if you have already lost files, there is data recovery.
